How can we prevent it? Believe it or not, there are so many ways one can go about preventing global warming. It is all a matter of taking that first step and following up with commitment. For many, this could be anywhere from informing your friends and family, to proposing to the people in your community that have the power to actually implement new laws regarding the prevention of this issue. For example, you could write a petition that stresses your concern for the environment around you. Government officials often try to avoid this particular issue because they are more worried about the economy and well being of the country in particular, not exactly the earth as a whole and future generations. However, in numbers, the signatures of many people that feel the same way about global warming can prove to be much more effective in getting the attention of the political community.
If speaking out is not exactly your cup of coffee, then you can always work towards erasing your “carbon footprint” in the world. There are several ways to go about doing this. First and foremost, many researchers have found that utilizing renewable energy in your home can definitely be an effective alternative to nonrenewable sources like electricity. In fact, many houses in neighborhoods throughout countries like Germany are already implementing Solar PV Power into them on top of their roofs. Although the installment of such panels are quite expensive, you can always take a less expensive route by investing in utility companies that produce energy from wind and solar sources. On the topic of power, the next time you go out to the store to purchase a new set of light bulbs, it may be a smart decision to purchase the kind labeled LED. These specific bulbs use so much less energy, and as a result they are recommended nationwide.
In the grand scheme of things, conserving energy is a win-win situation for most everyone. The reason should really be self explanatory because when you use less electricity, you also are cutting down on your bill. Simple changes in your everyday life can help make this happen too. Doing things like closing the windows in your house when it is cold outside during the winter and taking measures to properly insulate your home can prevent heat from escaping, which will in turn limit the amount of air conditioning that is actually needed to keep the house warm. Studies have also shown that many people neglect to finish their meals. This negative trend has contributed to an increase in the volume of landfills, which contains waste that is usually burned into gases bad for the atmosphere. So yet again there is another thing that consumers can do (cost free) to stop climate change by simply changing their eating habits.
When analyzing the rate at which our earth is heating, the realization of how far we have affected the planet is quite disturbing at a scientific standpoint. The earth is already showing signs of deterioration through the melting of the arctic and unusual weather patterns that have occurred in recent years. This is only the beginning of it all. If our earth continues to heat as it is now, the existence of life on earth will most likely be challenged in the coming years. That’s why it is so imperative to know what we as humans can actually do right now to prevent this foreseen future from becoming a horrific reality. I believe that it will ultimately be up to the human civilization to open their eyes and swallow that pill of laziness that consumes so many. Our duty is long past due, and there is definitely hope if more people recognize this ongoing disaster that is virtually nonexistent to so many.
